CareForce will never pressure our clients to change their dosage or end their Suboxone therapy prematurely. Will Suboxone make me feel high?
No! Suboxone is a partial opiate agonist, it occupies the opiate receptors in the brain, but does not create euphoria. Will I become dependent on Suboxone?
Ending Suboxone therapy abruptly, or trying to go, “cold turkey” off the medication will eventually lead to unpleasant withdraw symptoms. When you are ready to change dosage or stop the medication, your treatment team will create a slow taper schedule, along with additional medications and support to make this process manageable.

Is Suboxone Safe?
Compared to other prescription and over the counter medications, Suboxone has a very favorable safety profile. When used as directed, Suboxone is normally well tolerated and accidental overdose near impossible. Your treatment team will review the risks and benefits before starting treatment.

Will I develop a tolerance to Suboxone?
No! This is one of the many benefits that make Suboxone an unique addiction medication. Unlike full opiate agonists such as oxycodone, heroin, or fentanyl, you do not need more and more over time to get the same therapeutic effect. Once you find an effective dose, you will never need more.

How do you take Suboxone?
Buprenorphine products are taken sublingually. This means letting it dissolve under the tongue. Suboxone and other buprenorphine products should not be swallowed. Allowing the tablet or film to completely dissolve under the tongue may take between 15-30 minutes. Smoking, eating, and drinking is highly advised against in order to prevent swallowing the medication.
